The Uaru is a large peaceful soft water cichlid with plenty of character. The fish prefers to be kept in groups and will need some plant matter in its diet, occasional suppliments of live or frozen foods are also beneficial. Uaru’s are peaceful fish but males can become territorial during spawning. Provide hiding spots amongst rocks and wood, dark areas, and a few hardy plants. The fish will adapt to moderately hard water but is best kept in soft-medium conditions. Suitable tankmates include Angelfish, Discus, and Festive Cichlids
